Since 2016, LDMPCU has taken part in the ODOP (One District One Product) Program, as well as continued the construction of their milk processing centre. As such, LDMPCU has been in cooperation with Agriterra for the upcoming year of 2017 to further improve their knowledge, skills, and business in order to further LDMPCU as a creator of milk products in the Lalitpur district.
For the year of 2017, LDMPCU is working with Agriterra on: continuing to improve their organizational development; creating a 3-year business plan; as well as continuing to provide trainings to cooperatives and milk farmers in the Lalitpur district.
3-year Business Plan
With the intervention of Agriterra, LDMPCU is in the process of creating a business plan that includes: product diversification, market strategies, and investment needs. LDMPCU wants to meet the demands of the people in the Lalitpur district by diversifying their milk products. As well, in the 3-year Business Plan, LDMPCU wants to conduct market research in order to determine their target markets and products in order to benefit their market strategy. Finally, LDMPCU will look at their financial projections and determine needs for investments through creating proposals and finding support to increase participants such as: farmers, cooperatives, and stakeholders.
Training
LDMCPU will cooperate with Agriterra in facilitating and conducting capitalization workshops that will mobilize members of the union and teach them how to gain or request for capital, as well as utilize their capital to collect shares and resources.
Overall, LDMPCU will cooperative with Agriterra to support 5 main areas: 1) Production, 2) Business, 3) Organisational Development, 4) Financial Management, and 5) Governance. In this upcoming year and for the following 3 years, this business plan will support these 5 areas whilst including women and youth in all activities.
